“The doctor of the future will
give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human
frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease”. – Thomas
A. Edison
Because of the way your spine is
designed, improper motion or position of spinal bones, or vertebrae, can
irritate or choke delicate nerves – interfering with the function of the
cells, organs, and tissues they control. Doctors of chiropractic call this
a subluxation.
Car accidents, work-related injuries,
the birth process, stress, poor diet, poor posture, sports injuries, slips
or falls, sitting for prolonged periods are some of the activities that
can cause subluxations.
To determine if you have a subluxation
causing your health problem, we examine your spine to determine if any
areas are causing nervous system interference. Examination may consist
of postural analysis, static palpation, motion palpation, leg length checks,
muscle testing, orthopedic and neurological testing, x-ray, and EMG nerve
testing.
Once you have been shown exact locations
of nerve interference and get specific recommendations for your chiropractic
care program, your doctor will use carefully directed and controlled pressure
to return malpositioned spinal bones to their proper motion and position.
This procedure, called a spinal adjustment, serves to remove interferences
to your inborn healing ability.
